A sign of the Times…

Is it right, or just a sign of the times and larger prize pots?

It is very likely that in the next 2 weeks #ScottieScheffler will pass the career record earnings of #TigerWoods. This may not be a surprise to some but it is worth thinking about.

Tiger Woods has 82 PGA Tour wins to amass his career earnings of $120,999,166, however Scottie won his first PGA Tour event in 2022, and has only (relative terms) won 21 PGA Tour titles. So, with circa ¼ of the wins and over a 4 year period Scottie Scheffler has surpassed the career of a certain TW.

We just think that shows how the landscape has changed over the time LIV has been on the scene. With prize money now being elevated across the PGA Tour and especially for the signature events the record of earnings is going to go only upwards. It will be interesting to see if LIV filters away into the past, or in a less competitive situation, if prize money will settle down. Hard, to close the stable doors after the horse has bolted.

Rory will no doubt pass TW soon, albeit his 30 PGA Tour victories (along with numerous others around the world) have happened from 2010, so over a decent span of time.

But to surpass TW over 4 years with 21 PGA Tour titles does make us wonder.
